What is Transgender Horror?

In 2020, I started writing about the transgender antagonist found across a multitude of horror films. This soon blossomed into a years-long effort to catalogue the history and evolution of transgender characters across horror media (primarily film, but now literature).

I also keep a secondary list of films made by trans creatives. These films do not have to have explicit trans representation. They only have to have a trans director, trans writer, or trans actor within the cast.

I usually do not add films to the "canon" until I have personally sat down and watched them. That being said, my current list has 174 films. My secondary list of horror made by trans creatives currently sits at 200 films. I am incredibly proud that these have become among the most comprehensive resources available on this topic.
