Trans Panic! is a young adult slasher in which a group of friends must try and root out a killer hiding in plain sight within their summer camp for trans youth. This novel includes:
- Graphic violence, specifically against trans/genderqueer individuals.
- Transphobia/homophobia:
- Internalized trans/homophobia
- Transphobic/homophobic slurs used in jest by queer characters, while also being used pejoratively by other characters
- Targeted bullying
- Familial abuse
- Death(s) as the result of a transmisogynistic hate crime
- Ableism, internalized and externalized: Angela Baker is autistic and lives with selective mutism and is subjected to derogatory comments and frequently has negative thoughts regarding herself in this context.
- References to parental abuse, including physical violence.
- Actions of self harm (skin picking, biting, hair-pulling, etc.)
- Broad references to the American political landscape of 2025/2026 (Donald Trump, transphobic legislation, etc.)
- Other sequences which may trigger entomophobia, aquaphobia and/or emetophobia.
