Old Wounds is a novel about two teenagers who find themselves tasked with surviving a pseudo-cult and mysterious creature living in their woods. This novel contains the following:
- Transphobia (misgendering, targeted violence, physical abuse)
- Use of homophobic and transphobic language, including some slurs
- Sexual assault (attempted/implied)
- Misogynistic violence and rhetoric
- Multiple references to suicidal thoughts and actions
- Abusive family dynamics, as well as repeated references to and discussion of the loss of a parent.
- References to the murders of Brandon Teena and Rae'Lynn Thomas, as well as the suicide of Leelah Alcorn
